In 2020 harpist Alice Giles was asked by the Australian Music Examinations Board to compile a new syllabus for harp students. Alice asked me to consider writing some short works for the lower grades, using minimal pitch changes and limited hand positions. Lament was my first attempt, which didn't make it into the syllabus.
